(This is “About this blog”. Click here to go to latest posts.)
This is my blog on my mission to self-study Mandarin, eventually (hopefully) to fluency! As an American-born Chinese, all of the formal courses I’ve tried don’t fit me very well. I decided self-study was the way to go.
[Note: This site is now archival!]
As of 2014, my speaking would probably qualify as intermediate, but I’m very close to illiterate. I know most of the basic vocabulary that in beginner courses, but there are big gaps that prevent me from being able to speak freely about anything (except maybe food!).
I decided to start this blog as a way to keep my study on track, and maybe help out anyone in a similar situation.
Current plan: post everything I’ve found handy – great review for me and maybe useful for others. Blog everything I find interesting that has to do with learning Chinese. Archive helpful posts as a resource.
You can see that below the title there are five main pages. “About me” will give you some info about yours truly, “Lesson Plan: What’s up next” is what I have planned for the next few weeks, and “Posts” will take you to the latest posts.

not sure if you’re aware of it already, but might want to check out fluentu.com
Thanks for the tip. I only glanced at it briefly, but it looks like a good resource.
